url-2This is a poster showing a car smashed into the ground like a someone has put out a cigarette. The smoke, ashes, and the glowing if the tip of the car show that it is indeed a cigarette and car.

This poster was made in photoshop. The wrinkled top of the car was made with the liquify tool. The smoke could have been made using the effects and paint brush tool. The ashes are probably part of a photograph with the car added in. The glowing red was probably made using the color mode of the paintbrush, and text was made, using the text tool.

Texture is the most important element in this poster. There are multiple textures, such as the smoothness of the car, the sandy texture of the ashes, and the cloudiness of the smoke rising. The variations play off of each other, and create an eye catching poster.

4df314a31255e272ccf2746b6d745515I saw this poster and found it to be very clever. It is a pocket knife with the knives in the shapes of buildings and skyscraper. The image fits very well with the headline, “A Guide to Urban Utilities.”

This definitely was made in illustrator. The shape and pen tool can be used to draw the pocket knife and buildings. The text tool was used for the text underneath.

Color and shape play important roles in this poster. The shape of the buildings perfectly represent the assortment of knives in a pocket knife. The complementary colors feed off each other and make each other stand out significantly.

09bce681d1bab1fe6f2bffc471efed94 This looks like a photo of a staircase from space descending down into Earth’s atmosphere.

This piece was definitely made in photoshop. There are 3 different photos used in this piece; a snowy staircase, the earths atmosphere, and a picture of a giant moon. Each photo was copied on top of each other, with  the a lower opacity copy on the bottom, and was gradually erased to make it look as though each picture transitioned into each other.

The texture of this picture plays a huge role because the fluffiness of the clouds and snow, as well as the rough texture of the moon make this photo look very whimsical, like it was a scene of a dream. The different color shades of blues gives a sense of unity throughout the piece as well.

This is a “P” that transitions from what looks like dirt, to elegant flowers that look like the iron fence in New Orleans. This looks likes a poster advertising an exposition of a graphic artist.

This looks as though it was cut out of a picture of a patch of flowers and their roots. The selection tool (quick mask mode and paint brush) to cut out the flowers, instead of having the edge of the “p” crop out flowers. The rest of the text was created using the text tool.

A sense of movement is seen within this piece. The curvature of the stems of the flowers make it look as though they are growing and swirling around each other.

This looks  like an illustration of a tree made of up different flowers, leaves, and people. When I first looked at this, I thought it was just a crazy looking tree, but when I looked closer, I found arms and legs sticking out of the leaves and roots.

This look likes it was been made in both illustrator and photoshop. The shapes of the flowers and tree could have been created using the pin tool. The shadows, giving the shapes dimension, were most likely made with the burn tool in photoshop. The layered background was most likely made in photoshop my changing the opacity and erasing certain parts.

Because of the variation of shapes and colors, they are the two elements that are easily seen in this illustration. The shades of oranges and reds really complement the turquoise and green colors throughout the piece. The shapes that make up the tree provide unity with the shadows of the balloons on the right hand side.

a_th_live13This is a fun advertisement for Coca-Cola. It is showing all of the craziness and fun that is inside a bottle of coke.

Because none of the objects look very realistic, this poster was most likely made in illustrator. All of the objects coming out of the bottle and the bottle itself was probably drawn with pin tool. The colors were chosen using the eye dropper, and the text was made using the text tool. This poster is, overall, pretty simple and easy to make.

Shape and color are the two most prominent elements in this Coca cola poster. The colors against the black background really stand out, especially because they are bright, neon colors. The simple shapes, such as the stars and spaceships, coming out of the bottle reflect the simplicity and fun of childhood. If they look at all realistic, the overall “fun” of the poster would not be accomplished.

This looks like the a poster of an old hot rod racing car.

This was probably put together in photoshop. A filter must of been used to make the photograph of the car show just the darkest portions of the photo. A new layer with a texture was added in order to give that rough, sandpaper-like quality to the photo. As far as the colors, the paint brush could be used to get the different splotches of color.

Color and texture have a large part in this piece. The rough texture in the background gives the poster dimension. The colors used are very rustic and retro, fitting the subject matter of the poster.

This is a poster of a basketball player. The dripping paint looks as though he is sweating. I can see this as Nike or NBA promotion poster.

This was created in Illustrator because of the cartoon-like quality it has. The easiest way to make this poster would be to use the image trace tool and change the colors using the different swatches of the person. The lines swirling in the background were probably made using the pin tool.

Line, movement, and color are all distinct elements within this piece. The tapering in and out of the lines make the swirls look elastic, soaring across the page. The color palette looks as if they were chosen in the 70s.

Screen Shot 2013-04-23 at 3.38.08 PM This part of the article, made in indesign, that goes with the “Head in the Clouds” composition. I tried to make the text look like part of a mountain without making it hard to read the substance of the text. I also used a drop cap in order to draw your eyes to a starting point.

Liquify In this image, we used the liquify tool. This tool allowed us to move and shape any part of her body in order to get the desired results. I sure magazines use this tool quite often in order to make fashion photography more appealing to the readers.
